The Artist's Glance , Frissiras Museum , Athen
The Frissiras Museum, continuing with its series "The Artist's Glance," presents an exhibition by Grzegorz Wnęk from until 30 September. In the Polish artist's work, painting returns without remorse to the tradition of revival, leaving behind complexes and inhibitions related to ties to the past and retaining the intensity of the belief that what it has to say is more timely than ever.
Wnęk does not hesitate to show the misery of everyday life. His work does not succumb to the rules of appealing decoration that distinguishes contemporary art to a great degree. On the contrary, painting is an open invitation for soul searching and social activism, raising it to the level of great art. As in previous exhibitions of the "Artist's Glance" series, the artist, in addition to his own work, has chosen works by Andrea Martinelli, Jean Rustin, Peter Blake, R.B. Kitaij, Clive Smith, Apostolos Georgiou, Leon Golub, Celia Paul, Christopher Lebrun, Alexis Veroukas, László Fehér, Paoula Rego, Dieter Mammel, Victoria Russel, Marc Desgrandschamps, Bogumił Książek, Andrew Tift, Brann Renaud, Simon Pasieka, Xiang Shi, Riyas Komu, Biljana Djurdjevic and Dimitris Tzamouranis from the Frissiras Museum's works.
